Good morning, By My Side friends.

Here’s a shout-out to this present group of amazing women I met this past weekend during the start of this season’s By My Side program. I can’t wait to journey along with all of you over these next six weeks.

This April post is for these special ladies.

Separation and divorce can shake the very foundations of people’s lives, leaving those who are experiencing it lost, broken, and uncertain about their future. But in the midst of pain, there is one unshakable truth: Jesus Christ is with us.

Let’s take a look at some of C.S. Lewis’ inspirational quotes about the truths of God’s unconditional love and support for us all in light of people struggling with life’s hardships.

C.S. Lewis reminds us in quote #1:
“God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.”
When life feels overwhelming, we may try to seek comfort in distractions or worldly assurances, but true peace is found only in Christ. He is the one who knows our wounds, our fears, and our hopes.

Faith is not about having all the answers or feeling strong every day. Lewis puts it this way in quote #2:
“Faith is about holding onto things your reason once accepted, in spite of your changing moods.”
Some days, faith feels easy; other days, it feels impossible. But faith is a choice—a daily surrender to the One who never abandons us.

Quote #3:
“Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done.”
If you feel like you are starting over, know that you are not alone. Jesus is always inviting us to begin again with Him. He doesn’t ask for a perfect faith—just a willing heart.

Perhaps one of the greatest struggles after separation or divorce is the fear of being unloved or unworthy. But Lewis reminds us in quote #4:
“When Christ died, He died for you individually just as much as if you had been the only person in the world.”
Your worth is not determined by your past, your mistakes, or your circumstances. It is found in the love of Jesus, who sees you, knows you, and cherishes you.

If you are struggling today, hold onto Christ. He does not promise an easy road, but He promises Himself. And that is more than enough.

Quote #5:
“Christ says, ‘Give me all. I don’t want so much of your time and so much of your money and so much of your work: I want you.'”
Give Him your heart. He will heal it. You are not alone. You are loved, and with Christ, there is always hope.

These quotes reflect C.S. Lewis’ deep understanding of faith, surrender, and the transformative power of a relationship with Jesus. I hope all of you struggling with life’s ups and downs find comfort in this April’s “Food for Thought” as you journey through this Lenten season.

Have a blessed Lent and Easter, everyone.

Love,
MJ xo
