Hello again everyone. Happy October ! I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I thought I would stick with the theme of Thanksgiving this month with this post. This holiday reminds me always to stop, reflect and be grateful for all the good things in my life. We know that it is important in prayer to thank the Lord for our many great blessings. Nothing new here. Not a bad idea to make a list of all the things we should be grateful for. Here are a few that come to mind. Our closest relationships, our family, our children, our faith, health, food, clothes, home, car to drive, meaningful work, living in Canada, nature, music, books our talents and abilities. In gratitude, our hearts will always be joyful. Joy, is the fruit of appreciation says Matthew Kelly. He also says, that we can’t become happy by going out and looking for happiness. Happiness is a by-product of right living. Happiness is not achieved by the pursuit of happiness but by the pursuit of right living, living a life of integrity. Happiness is not an end in itself. Just do the next right thing. Matthew Kelly goes on to say that our talent is limited but our ability to increase our character is unlimited. We need to switch our focus from what we have or what we want to get in life, to who we are and who we are becoming. Celebrity status and talent defines society’s heroes. We overlook the fundamental truth that their talent was given to them, they were born with it. Celebrities sharpen the knife and bring their talents to fruition but their talent was God’s gift to them. Just as our unique talents are God’s gift to us. Continue to place your talents, enthusiasm and fortitude at the service of God’s will for you in your life. It is there that you will find peace, contentment and true lasting unimaginable happiness. As a result, no doubt your gratitude list will increase as you celebrate next years Thanksgiving weekend. I will catch up with you all in November ! Blessings, MJ xo
